GST Portal JSON to Excel
Turn the JSON files you download from the GST portal into a readable Excel workbook, with one sheet per return section and plain column names. Drop in several months to merge them.
Free, no login. Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type or upload is sent to our servers.
GSTR-1, GSTR-2A or GSTR-2B JSON as downloaded from the GST portal. Select several months at once to merge them.
A computational aid, not professional advice. Check results against the governing law, notifications and your own judgement before relying on them.
What you get
- One sheet per section: B2B invoices, credit/debit notes, amendments, imports, ISD credits and every other section present in the file.
- Plain column names: “Counterparty GSTIN”, “Taxable value”, “IGST” instead of
ctin, txval, iamt. - Totals you can trust: one row per rate line, with invoice-level amounts shown once, so a column sum equals the real total.
- Several months, one workbook: each row carries its return period and GSTIN.
Next step: reconcile
Converting GSTR-2B is usually the first step of matching it against the purchase register. AuditorTax does that reconciliation for every client you manage, matching on GSTIN, invoice number, date and amount.
Skip the JSON wrangling altogether
Upload GSTR-2B straight into AuditorTax and reconcile it against purchases with a full audit trail.
Frequently asked questions
Which GST JSON files does this convert?
GSTR-1, GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B JSON files as downloaded from the GST portal. Each return section (B2B invoices, credit/debit notes, imports, amendments and so on) becomes its own sheet.
Can I merge several months into one Excel file?
Yes. Select several JSON files at once, or add more afterwards. Rows from every file are combined section by section, with a Return period column so you can still tell the months apart.
Are my GST files uploaded to your server?
No. The files are read and converted by your browser. Nothing leaves your computer.
Why is the invoice value blank on some rows?
When an invoice has several rate lines, the invoice value appears only on its first row. That keeps the column total equal to the real total instead of counting the same invoice more than once. Taxable value and tax columns are per line.
The portal gave me a ZIP file. What do I do?
Extract the ZIP first and select the JSON file or files inside it.
